Wayne Shorter is a jazz legend whose career stretched over half a century. The golden era of this saxophonist’s musical journey was marked by the formation of his quartet with pianist Danilo Pérez, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Brian Blade, bringing a lifetime of genre-blending and electrifying experimentation to the stage, confounding all preconceptions of jazz over 24 prolific years of concerts and Grammy Award-winning recordings. Shorter’s great musical legacy lives on through this kindred trio as they take to Zero Gravity – a shared fearlessness espoused by their mentor and Zen guru. Joining them, and frequently hailed as one of the most influential saxophonists of his generation, is special guest Mark Turner, rounding out this quartet to inspire exploration of the unknown. The Legacy of Wayne Shorter honors Shorter’s pivotal contributions to jazz through new interpretations of the late saxophonist’s iconic compositions.
