Two Oakland heavyweights. One stage. The Motion Detected Tour hits Downtown Santa Rosa.
Bay Area hip-hop standouts Mistah F.A.B. and Philthy Rich bring the Motion Detected Tour to Barrel Proof Lounge on Saturday, October 17 for a late-night show celebrating the sound, history and continuing evolution of Northern California rap.
MISTAH F.A.B.
Mistah F.A.B. is one of the defining voices of Oakland hip-hop and the Bay Area's hyphy movement. Coming out of North Oakland, F.A.B. rose alongside the movement that put a new generation of Bay Area rap on the national map, working with artists including Mac Dre, E-40 and Too $hort along the way. His 2005 album Son of a Pimp and tracks including “Super Sic Wit It” helped establish him as one of the era's essential artists.
But F.A.B.'s career reaches well beyond one era or one sound. His extensive catalog moves between street records, humor, storytelling and socially conscious material, while his work as an entrepreneur, philanthropist and community advocate has made him a fixture in Oakland beyond music.
PHILTHY RICH
Representing East Oakland's Seminary neighborhood, Philthy Rich has built one of the most prolific catalogs in Bay Area rap. Since emerging in the late 2000s, he's released a steady stream of albums, mixtapes and collaborations while taking his Oakland sound well beyond Northern California.
His long list of collaborators includes E-40, Too $hort, Rick Ross, Lil Durk, Young Dolph, Gucci Mane, Roddy Ricch, Migos, Lil Uzi Vert, Kevin Gates, Benny the Butcher, 42 Dugg and Tee Grizzley, among many others.
Now Mistah F.A.B. and Philthy Rich hit Santa Rosa together as the Motion Detected Tour rolls through California.
This is a chance to catch two established Oakland artists up close in the Barrel Proof showroom, right in the heart of Downtown Santa Rosa.
