Each September, Santa Rosa opens its doors (quite literally) to the public. Santa Rosa Open Studios is a free, two-weekend event that transforms our city into a living gallery, inviting visitors into the private studios of more than fifty local artists. From backyard workspaces to converted garages to established studio complexes, the event spans neighborhoods across the city, offering an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at the artistic process in mediums as varied as painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, and multimedia work.
The experience is built to be self-directed. There is no single path through the event. Visitors navigate printed maps or an interactive digital guide, choosing which studio or studio clusters to explore and at what pace. Some will drive between neighborhoods; others will bike or walk. However they move through the city, participants arrive at the same destination: direct, personal access to working artists in the spaces where they actually make their work.
