Cedar Mountain String Band

Singer/Songwriter Gary Sugiyama had been playing solo for a long time when he decided to pull together some of the best musicians to accompany him and form a band. They all have input into what songs they’d like to perform, consequently their repertoire of songs are vast – from old time folk to golden oldies, to country, to original tunes. How do you classify their genre? Call it Eclectic. They have shared their musical and vocal talents at public events, private parties, and restaurants across Sonoma County. Gary Sugiyama has been honing his guitar and ukulele skills for decades. He also has gifted us with entrancing and meaningful songs that he has written and sings. His wife, Becky Brendlin Sugiyama, joined him after he bought her a ukulele. Gary conscripted his long-time pal, Keller McDonald, to add his vocals, sweet harmonies and ukulele prowess. Playing rock music since high school, Steve Morris is well known for his lead work. Frank Blount rounds out the group with his rhythmic bass. Everyone sings and takes leads on songs, an experience you don’t want to miss.

Dave Hamilton was born and raised in Santa Rosa Calif. and is a lifetime Sonoma County resident. He has been playing music and writing songs in the Northbay for many years. He plays mostly in the Folk/Americana genres but also incorporates country and ragtime mixing originals and covers. He is a multi-award winning songwriter with the West Coast Songwriters Association. Hamilton is also an eight consecutive year award winner of the Northbay Bohemian Music Readers Poll in the singer/songwriter, acoustic, folk and American categories.. He has released three Cd’s “Back Roads of My Mind”, “Thinking About Time”, “Ten Cent Prize”, all of which have been played on several local radio stations such as KRCB, KRSH, KOWS, and KSVY.
